Places to Eat Fast Food Chicken that are NOT Chick Fil A
So you have given up that delicious Chick Fil A because their owner popped off about marriage rights against LGBT couples. Now you’re pretty steamed about the whole thing, but also lost in the world without them. Where now can you get some decent fast food chicken? As a Southern born fan of fried chicken, I am in the unique position to help in your time of need. Here is a handy guide to consider your optionsKFC: Personally I have never really been a big fan of KFC chicken, I have always found that their food has this artificial taste that comes from years of focus testing and appealing to the largest common denominator. In short, It not bad, it just doesn’t have that homemade style or taste they would lead some to believe. Plus with KFC, while you may not have to worry about helping anti gay agendas, you do have to deal with that highly publicized animal cruelty thing.
McDonald’s: The First choice in a last resort for many, McDonald’s Southern Style Chicken Sandwich is an attempt at capturing the Chick Fil A Number 1 meal. But the bun just isn’t up to scuff with Chick Fil A’s and the chicken breast just cant compare. Oh! and while with McDonald’s, I can’t really find a stance on Gay Marriage, (Most likely because having a public opinion at all is bad for business) you get bad environment policy, shady business practices, and the esteemed honor of contributing to the obesity culture, if you choose to support their mega business.Wendy’s: Wendy’s is not southern and doesn’t try to be, but they make a pretty good chicken sandwich regardless. They also usually do a fantastic job with special orders so you can tailor the sandwich to your liking without much trouble. The problem with Wendy’s is that it’s just good, not great…  even their spicy chicken breast has that generic flavor and just cant hold up to those southern flavors that you get at places like Chick Fil ARaising Cane: Coming from Louisiana, Raising Cane’s exclusively deal in Chicken fingers. They do have a really small menu that lacks variety so I hope you are down for what they offer, provided you can find one. Cane’s has a rather limited reach compared to the other people on this list, but it is growing. If you do come across one, you will be treated with great service, a fun atmosphere and really good chicken fingers. They also promote Pet welfare programs, so your money will be going to the SPCA rather than anti-gay hate groups. Kittens and puppies are a much better thing to support than fundamentalist bigotsZaxby’s: My personal favorite chicken place, Zaxby’s is a worthy replacement to Chick Fil A. Their menu has more diversity with the inclusion of wings and the majority of the food is freshly prepared. Just like Raising Cane’s, they promote a customer focused atmosphere with great service and really awesome food. Overall it’s just a great place to eat. I really can’t find much on Zaxby’s declared stances on issues (once again, having a stance at all is generally bad business), but judging from their celebrity endorsements, Kathy Griffin (LGBT rights), Doris Roberts and John Schneider (Animal Rights) they seem to be on the good side of those issues.
